In the field of music, we can add another plus point. In the number and quality of concerts of world-famous stars, which are planned for this year, we can easily match our neighbors to the west of our borders. So who can we look forward to? The offer is more than generous.
The most fans will probably be attracted by singer Ed Sheeran and the band Rammstein. The British hitmaker, who is one of the most prominent personalities of contemporary pop music, will appear twice at the end of July at the airport in Hradec Králové. Five years ago, about 150 thousand people came to his two concerts in Prague!
And it is on the outskirts of the capital where the metal legend Rammstein is to play on May 11 and 12, whose frontman Till Lindemann was even investigated last year by the German prosecutor's office on suspicion of sexual harassment and abusing female fans. At the end of May, at the same place, the American holder of 20 Grammy awards and a movie Oscar, Bruce Springsteen, will perform with his band.
Let's also take a look at the event that is happening next month. Depeche Mode have prepared two February concerts for fans in the O2 arena in Prague, following up on last year's concert for 60,000 fans.
Big music festivals are also attracting famous names. In mid-June, the airport in Hradec Králové is hosting the Rock for People festival with bands like The Offspring, who will be one of the main attractions.
"They will celebrate an incredible 40th anniversary on stage,"
said Michal Thomes, the festival director to LP-Life.
Also present will be Bring Me The Horizon, The Prodigy, singer Avril Lavigne, and Hollywood actor Keane Reeves.
But that's definitely not all! At Colours of Ostrava in July, we will welcome singer and multi-instrumentalist Lenny Kravitz, Californian rockers Queens of the Stone Age, or British singer Sam Smith. Prague’s Metronome then announces for example British Kosheen and several other novelties.
"We will surprise the audience with further improvements and extensions not only in the music but also in the non-music program under the banner of Metronome Fair,"
stated in the press release co-organizer of the whole event David Gaydečka.
Even smaller venues and concert halls will definitely not be idle. The band Nothing But Thieves will arrive at Foro Karlín in mid-February. And a week later we can hear singer James Arthur here. In Roxy, just a day later, well-known electronic music producer Fatboy Slim will perform his show.
On March 1, Vysočany's O2 Universum will host another concert by singer LP. Three days later, singer-songwriter James Blunt, the author of hits like You´are Beautiful or Wisemen, will visit the Forum Karlín. In mid-March, two interesting events will take place at the Holešovice Fortuna Sports Hall. The 1975, who have received two Grammy nominations in the past, will showcase their talent at the first event. They will be followed by Irish singer Niall Horan, a former member of the popular boy band One Direction. The end of the month will be marked by a concert of singer Tom Odell, who will introduce his new album, titled Black Friday, at the Forum Karlín. The O2 Arena will be the place to visit for members of the rock and roll hall of fame, Judas Priest. Guests of this heavy metal legend will be their companions Uriah Heep and Saxon.
We are not going to be bored in April either. Guitarist Slash, who made his name in the band Guns N´Roses, and singer Myles Kennedy with backup band The Conspirators will perform in the Brno Winning Group arena. Jazz enthusiasts can look forward to the Sono Center. Samara Joy, a recent winner of two Grammy awards, including the one for breakthrough of the year, and winner of the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, will sing there.
In the middle of May, the Holešovice Sports Hall will offer a show by the American rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, led by singer, guitarist and Hollywood star Jared Leto. June will kick off in the O2 arena with the band Jonas Brothers, made up of former teenage stars from the Disney Channel, and a concert by singer and guitarist Sting in Plzeň. The former frontman of The Police, who holds 17 Grammy awards, will play his My Songs set in the local amphitheater in Lochotín. And a month later, Sir Rod Stewart will sing in the O2 arena, presenting the greatest hits of his career. In the neighboring O2 Universum hall, as part of the Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live tour, the Pet Shop Boys will perform, and just a few days later, there will also be a performance by the American stars of alternative rock, The Smashing Pumpkins.
We will have to wait for the dates of later events. However, it is already clear that the end of July will belong to the German Scorpions in the Pardubice Enteria Arena.
Therefore, open your diaries and write down the concerts that you find most interesting. This year will certainly be worth it in terms of music!
